چکیده

2014 Some analytical results for the resistively shunted Josephson junction, fed with an ac current in addition to a dc current, are reported. The original nonlinear differential equation for the phase difference of the order parameter is transformed to a linear second order differential equation with periodic coefficients. From this equation the possibility for harmonic current steps and the absence of subharmonic steps may be inferred. Furthermore, for low values of the ac current amplitude and frequency the step height of the first few steps is calculated in the tight binding approximation. At high frequencies the free electron approximation is used for the evaluation of the step heights for arbitrary values of the amplitude ; it follows that the step heights behave like Bessel functions. These results are qualitatively in agreement with numerical calculations by Russer and others. REVUE DE PHYSIQUE APPLIQUÉE TOME 9, JANVIER 1974, PAGE

The Superconductor-to-Insulator Transition in Resistively-Shunted Josephson-Junction Arrays

This essay describes the, analytical theory, experimental observations and potential applications of superconductor‐to‐insulator quantum phase transitions in arrays of resistively‐shunted Josephson junctions and superconducting islands dissipatively‐coupled to an external source of single‐particle excitations.

Resistively shunted Josephson junctions: QFT predictions versus MC results

During the last fourteen years several exact results were obtained for the so-called boundary sine-Gordon model. In the case of a conformal bulk this 2D boundary quantum field theory describes the universal scaling behavior of the CaldeiraLeggett model of resistively shunted Josephson junctions. In this work, we use a recently developed Monte Carlo technique to test some of the analytical predi...

Shapiro steps in Josephson Junctions

We use Ginzburg-Landau theory to describe the phase transition to the superconducting state and the current through a superconductor. Applying quantum mechanics to the Josephson junction following Feynmann’s method the Josephson relations for AC and DC current through the junctions is obtained. The resistively shunted Josephson junction and the resistively and capacitively shunted Josephson jun...

Josephson Junction Arrays with Long-Range Interactions

We calculate the current-voltage (IV ) characteristics of a Josephson junction array with long-range interactions. The array consists of two sets of equally-spaced parallel superconducting wires placed at right angles. A Josephson junction is formed at every point wherever the wires cross. We treat each such junction as an overdamped resistively-shunted junction, and each wire segment between t...

Frequency Windows of Absolute Negative Conductance in Josephson Junctions

We report on anomalous conductance in a resistively and capacitively shunted Josephson junction which is simultaneously driven by ac and dc currents. The dependence of the voltage across the junction on the frequency of the ac current shows windows of absolute negative conductance regimes, i.e. for a positive (negative) dc current, the voltage is negative (positive).
